5Really good for the price  Mar 28, 2012
By B. Pauldine
I must admit up front that I'm not an audiophile; so I'm not super-educated about the finer differences between microphones in general. However, I have used a few condenser mics, and this one seems right on par with $200 units.

I was worried the mic would generate a lot of self-noise, based on the price. It doesn't. It picks up a full range of tones beautifully, and it's a far cry from the type of USB mic I was considering buying. Couldn't be happier.

One thing to note is that it DOES require phantom power to operate. So you'll need something to power it. I use this unit: Alesis MultiMix 4 USB Compact Mixer. Alternatively, Badaax does make a USB mic that SEEMS fairly close to this one in specifactions: Badaax Um600 Studio Usb Cardioid Condenser Microphone--that one obviously wouldn't need phantom power, being a USB.

Another must-have will be a mic stand (like the no-frills On Stage DS7200B Adjustable Desk Microphone Stand, Black), and don't forget the XLR mic cable.

On the whole, I'm very pleased. I will probably be purchasing a second one in the not-too-distant future.

2Help  Mar 26, 2012
By Jayy
I just purchased this mic and I have no idea if it works because it needs a 48 volt phantom power supply but no one tells you that when you buy it... I just need to record... I record in a project studio (home studio) and I don't need all of the fancy equipment... please help me find out if I need the phantom power supply!
