Great beginner instrument! Jan 07, 2011

It's been over a year since I've purchased the Noteworthy Student Trombone. I was hesitant to post my initial raves about this item, because I wanted to see how well it would stand up to the abuse of a pre-teen boy.
My son was 12yo when I purchased this for him. When we opened the box, I was a little disappointed to see that the included case was just stiff foam covered with canvas. However, this turned out to be an advantage. It wasn't a solid, heavy case so it isn't difficult for him to transport it to and from school each day. He really likes that the case has straps to allow him to wear it like a backpack. He's able to wear his instrument and pull his school backpack, which has wheels, and he doesn't feel over burdened.
There is plenty of storage within the case for the various cleaning and maintenance supplies needed for his instrument. He can even fit his mute in the case, so it stays safe and unharmed. There's also a storage slot on the outside of the case, for holding music. I wish it were a bigger pocket, because his music book isn't standard 8.5x11 paper. The book won't fit in the pocket, but his loose music sheets, in a vinyl folder, does fit.
I was a little worried about the case getting rained on. I sprayed some water on it, to test. It didn't seem to absorb the water, but it didn't bead up and run off either. So I used some 'Stay Dri Water Repellent'. No more worries.
He's half way through his second year of using this instrument and we've never had a problem with it. I'd highly recommend this!
