Description:

Route 66 American Overdrive is sure to become as legendary as its namesake. With classic compression combined with classic overdrive modeled after the sound of the original TS-808 Tubescreamer (JRC4558 chip and all!), the Route 66 pedal gives you two great effects for the price of one. The two effects sound great on their own and can also be combined to compliment one another. In fact, probably the only complaints about the original Tubescreamer was that it did not have much sustain or bottom end. That won?t be a problem with Route 66. Just combine the overdrive side with the compression side to get all the sustain you want. Add the Overdrive Bass Boost and give it that big cabinet sound. If you love the clean sound of your guitar and amp, but just want a clean boost, kick in the compressor with the Gain knob up a bit. We?ve added a pre-amp stage to the compressor to allow for a truckload of gain, with or without overdrive. Using Route 66 American Overdrive with a good tube amp is sure to make it sing!

Features:
  • Overdrive and Compression on two separate channels with individual tone controls

  • Overdrive channel sounds like the original TS808 and even uses the JRC4558 op-amp

  • Unique overdrive bass boost switch

  • Compression channel can be set for fully squashed

  • Compressor also has an integrated pre-amp controlled by a Gain knob so you can get loads of clean gain without overdrive

5nice pedal, i own the old style version  Apr 25, 2012

I own 4 visual sound pedals and this one did not disappoint. nice creamy overdrive like the vintage ibanez tubescreamer. The compression channel is a dream, adds a lot of twang and is flexible and easy to adjust. Better sounding to my ears compared to the Boss compression pedal. This 2 in one pedal saves space on the board from cable clutter and extra adaptor plugs. Cant be happier.

I have run one of those pedals in my signal chain for ages.....very light compression so the switch between fingers and a flat pick is less noticeable and the overdrive is just what I want. I broke one some time back but the newer lay out makes that trouble impossible. I have two right now so when we get together to play the other guitar has access to the same gear. Highly recommended (as are all their products). Simply said well made stuff that sounds great and is easy to use musically

I got interested in this pedal after hearing that Matthew Followill from Kings of Leon uses it. I bought a used one and have been very pleased.

The overdrive side is great - you can get some very crunchy sounds as well as a soft, warm blues overdrive. The compressor side is also great. It really sounds good with a clean tone and adds a good amount of sustain for thicker, deeper sounds. I don't use the bass over drive or tone control switches much, but hey, they're there if you want them.

Another added bonus of this pedal is that it's 2 in 1, which means more space on your pedal board for other pedals. Also, the design feels very sturdy. I've stepped on it quite a bit and it's showing no signs of wear. Definitely recommend this pedal for anyone looking for a good overdrive and the added bonus of a compressor.

P.S. Listen to Kings of Leon to get a feel for how this sounds - they're lead guitarist uses this pretty much exclusively.

I was very excited about getting this pedal, as it contained a compressor, an overdrive and a noise-gate (think pedal board real estate). Alas, I was to be disappointed. I plugged this into my Egnater 30 watt combo and my American Stat deluxe. When I struck a chord, and let it sustain, it would go "tick, tick, tick" as the sound level stepped down. I couldn't get beyond the stair-stepping quality of the noise-gate, and sent it back the next day. This is a fairly expensive item, and came poorly prepped from Visual Sound. I did get an email from the company saying that this was a "transitional" problem from an old model with an adjustment inside. Unfortunately, I won't be interested in the new model as a result.

This is a Very God compressor And it has a god overdrive its sounds sweet and warm, and it has plenty of volume, the compressor do what it has to.
The thing why i put 4 stars is because it has a little problem and i don't know why, when i turn it on i have to wait a few seconds like betwen 30 and 120 seconds to hear all the volume that i put in the amplifier, i don't know why but its no a big deal, but it shouldn't do it. Very good Pedal effects :D
